What is ITA?

ITA is the "first ever Black-owned outdoor furniture brand" (Forbes). Our mission is to empower the BIPOC community to rest and reset while reclaiming the outdoors as a sanctuary. We create tools for the next generation of leisure seekers.

Product

What is different about ITA's products?

ITA's products embolden the gamut of outdoor enthusiasts to make every trip outdoors feel like #TimeWellSpent. We spent the last year imagining a new type of outdoor goods brand - one that is created with diversity at its core and sees a culturally rich future in the outdoors, where inclusion is the foundation - not an afterthought. We encourage our community to take up outside space boldly, intentionally, and often.

Community

I’m an artist and would love to collaborate with ITA. How can I reach out?

Please e-mail us at hello@italeisure.com :)

Can I be featured in “Field Notes”?

We're always open to meeting new people and having conversations - email us at hello@italeisure.com with a few words why you think you'd be a great fit and we'll take it from there!

What is ITA doing to give back to the community?

Great question! First and foremost, we're creating a Community Index featuring BIPOC-led outdoor organizations that speak to the greater mission of diversity and inclusion.

Furthermore, as we expand our product line, we'll be creating a giveback program that will look to support greater outdoor access for youth.

Why is it that BIPOC are underrepresented outdoors?

This question is a highly layered and multifaceted one. Firstly, it comes through institutionalized legislation. This segregated people of color away from public lands, and deliberately banned them from accessing these spaces -- resulting in feelings of intimidation and exclusion. Only with the 1964 Civil Rights Act were these communities granted permission to enter beaches and parks.

This history manifests itself in present media and marketing as well, as the majority of brands target a singular consumer. However, as we all know nature lovers come in all shapes and sizes, and the institution is no longer a monolith.
